July 19th, 2012 Job 6-9

S. Job 6:8-9 “Oh that I might have my request, that God would grant my hope. I wish he would crush me, that he would reach out his hand and kill me.”
Notice: I didn’t underline this in my bible because I thought it would get through life in any way…haha I did however underline it because of the meaning behind what happened, or should I say didn’t happen after Job requested to die…
O. Job wanted to give up, he was done with life and done living and with pretty darn good reason. BUT God didn’t grant Job his wish at all. God had a different plan.
A. I think we as humans or Christians, and knowingly myself included, tend to give up too easily. When the going gets tough we often forget how big God actually is. We can certainly trust what God is doing in our lives when it is going easy, but as soon as the storms come at us we don’t know what’s going on. I need to trust God through the punches when I know he is testing my limits.
P. Lord, I trust you. I trust that you have a plan bigger than what I know and could even imagine. I pray that through the crap of life I learn to always lean on you.

S. Job 8: 14-15 “Everything they count on will collapse…They cling to their home for security, but it won’t last…”
O. Although Bildad (guy talking to Job) was technically wrongly accusing Job, he still makes a fantastic point. People often hold onto something that isn’t eternal and will fade at the first blow of life.
A. What do I put my security in? I think people will do a lot to feel secure wherever they are. Money, possessions, knowledge, relationships, and a whole lot of other things only last a little while. If only we can find that security in God. Oh wait… we CAN! We have to let ourselves be secure in God. If you have a secure foundation with God, then feelings of insecurity can’t uproot you.
P. I want to be secure in you God. Please help me to root my foundation in who you are and who I am because of you.
